Primary Elections
While the official beginning of summer is still a few weeks off, the feeling of summertime has indeed enveloped me. Summer can be a time to relax and take a breather from some things, but I would also challenge you that this is a prime time to make a new connection or strengthen an existing relationship with a neighbor.
One other thing coming soon is the primary elections. Several Federal, State, and County-wide primaries are happening on June 14. With the State's election law passed this legislative session, no-excuse early voting began yesterday, May 31!
The best time to figure out what you're voting for during the primary is now! You can view your sample ballot from the SC Election Commission here.
You can also find information from the Greenville County Voter Registration website, including sample lists of candidates relevant to Greenville County. There is also information about becoming a poll worker, a critical role that helps us ensure our elections run smoothly.
I would encourage you to take some time and do a little Googling of the names you see on your sample ballots. From my experience, a lot of our time online is spent discussing national politics, but local politics impact our day-to-day lives a lot!
Below, you can find some specific resources for upcoming races and questions on the ballot:
You can see a summary of County-wide office candidates from the Greenville News here.
If you live in one of the County Council Districts that have a contested primary, you can find candidate interviews here.
One question posed on the ballot is allowing School Board Members to run as partisan candidates. You can read more about that here.
Let us know if you have any questions, and we'll see you again soon!
