How can I find out about County meetings?
Last month, we gave you some resources to learn about how local government works in South Carolina. There are many layers, and it can be unclear, so click here if you want to learn more about those resources.
Regardless of where you live in Taylors, one of the layers of government that we all share is Greenville County. Greenville County is the largest county by population in the state, with over 530K people living within its borders.
Greenville County provides many services to its residents, but it can feel very challenging to keep up with what's going on! One helpful link to keep bookmarked is the Calendar page on the Greenville County Website.
Here you can see the Greenville County Calendars:
The Greenville County Council Calendar shows you the specific meetings of the County Council. County Council is the highest political governing body over Greenville County. Their regular meetings take place on the first and third Tuesdays of every month and other times as called.
Greenville County Council oversees and exists in relationship with many other Boards and Commissions. The Boards and Commissions Calendar of Events shows you the different meetings of these groups.
It can feel daunting, but one great way to learn more is to show up. You can learn a great deal quickly by being present and engaging with your elected and appointed official and others present.
Thanks for taking the time to learn today, and we're excited to keep working to make Taylors and Greenville County a better place for all! Do you have something you are curious about? Please reply to this email and let us know.
