We’ve Signed the Title for Chick Springs!

Greetings everyone! This month, we have some thrilling news to share. On Wednesday, May 29, Taylors TownSquare Treasurer Michael Horne and I had the privilege to meet For 8 Corporation Owner Curt Niemela and Project Manager Lily Niemela. We officially signed the documents to transfer the title of a significant portion of the Chick Springs property to Taylors TownSquare. This is a monumental achievement in our decade-long journey to preserve the history of the Eastside of Greenville County. We couldn't have reached this milestone without your support and encouragement.

I want to express a heartfelt thanks to Curt & Lily for their unwavering commitment to this project. Their selfless act of donating this property to Taylors TownSquare is a testament to their dedication to our community and ensures this property will be safeguarded for generations to come.

I also want to thank Greenville County Council Member Mike Barnes for meeting with us monthly for the past three years to ensure this project cleared any necessary hurdles from Greenville County.

A tremendous amount of the credit goes to former Taylors TownSquare Board Member Mike Iastesta for his work in those meetings and on the site over the past few years to ensure the property didn't deteriorate further. He poured his heart and soul into the property, and I will be forever grateful.

The work of the Chick Springs Historical Society laid the foundation for our announcement today. They began work on this project in 2008 and transferred their remaining assets to Taylors TownSquare in 2021. Officers and Directors of the society included James Starnes, Bill Wilson, Leland Alewine, and Jean Martin Flynn. Bill Wilson survives today, and we are incredibly grateful to have allowed him to see this transfer come to fruition.

Looking ahead, we are excited to finalize the transfer with the official filings and embark on the development of a comprehensive master plan for the site. This plan will not only preserve the historical significance of the Chick Springs property but also create a vibrant community space for all to enjoy. However, we need your support to make this vision a reality. If you believe in our mission and want to see the work on this site continue, please consider making a donation to Taylors TownSquare today.

You can ready more about the Chick Springs site on our website here.
